Do you, as an individual or as part of some frightening collective consciousness, have the ability to be funny? Can you draw well? Do you understand obscure literary humor? Are you more legible than these cartoons done by a harried Weekend editor whose initials are T. W.? If you answered yes to any, most, some, one or possibly even none of these questions, then you might be just the guy, gal or other that we are seeking to remove our heavy burdens. Just read in the box below, and you could be on your own personal path to cartooning fortune and sex. Woman, why you treat me so mean? I never even see you anymorel 0 SMIL 92&iM - v _________________ b MtYA4lt~A, em) S1TE64YOA.4 bDsac ie PEsE tciE. A r Py & I THT sT r r '- F u* ~ 0#a-' 'e"c First Aid, Merit Badge Series By Carl J. Potthoff; M.D. 1957 From the why of first aid to meet- ing your merit badge counselor, this tome is more than 80 pages of medi- cal genius. "If onlyDaniel Boone, Davy Crockett, and other early fron- tiersman had known as much about first aid as we do today!" You betcha, Doc! If they were here now you could give them tips like "Under certain circumstances, give fluid" and "Care for the victim's injuries" and "If a person is shot in the head, have him lie down with a blanket under the head and shoulders." Yeah! Eventually, Potthoff does get around to giving some gruesomely good illustrated advice. The eye inju- ries illo is extremely gratifying (even if the advice amounts to basically blinking). The mouth to mouth illos would undoubtedly have been con- sidered risque in the suffocating"SOs. And, as always, the compound frac- ture demonstration is tons o' fun. Unfortunately, there is no truly horrible advice (i.e. "If your scout master grows ill in the swamp, leech* him"). Still, the paper is surely worth the 4o cents it will probably cost you.
