WHY: Saturday, Hamilton kicked four field goals of 32, 32, 35 and 42
yards in Michigan's 26-24 victory over Notre Dame. The last one
came with just two seconds left, providing the winning margin for the
Wolverines.
BACKGROUND: Before Saturday's heroics, Hamilton had attempted and
succeeded on only one other field goal in his career, a 47-yarder last
season against Minnesota. As a high school senior, he was named
first team All-Palm Beach County Athletic Conference kicker and
second team punter by the Sun-Sentinel and The Palm Beach Post.
In addition to his kicking duties, he also played quarterback.
