Had you graduated just 20 years earlier, you could have had a job with the National ;,Security Agency. Of course, this ad was just a front for the major spy operations taking place all over Middle America in the mid-'70s. (What else could "large scale cryptocommunication systems" mean?) The spy missions -were sent out to small towns across the country: while participants pretended to be studying electromagnetic propagation, they were really trying to uncover the secrets of the American counterculture. Alas, they never succeeded - the culture disappeared before the imposter Haight-Ashbury children could grow out their hair. Still, the National Security Agency kept trying. Today, they are not a major operation, and so can no longer offering unprecedented, unparalleled job opportunity. Hey, why should they be any different than anyone else? Like most places in the U.S. today, they're just not hiring. Better luck next century. WEiEKEND EDITORS CON Darcy Lockman Michae Jo h n R .
