Ladies & entlemen, say 'hi' A quick look at thepeople who struck those poses he Garden of Eden. Whatever one's personal beliefs, the name conjurs up certain images. Lush green trees, animals scurrying on the ground and through the trees, warm golden rays of light and fruit. And come this time of year, as winter's snow melts, it is an image all folks wish to experience. Spring officially began Sunday, though many won't feel it is here until a modern day Garden of Eden grows from the frozen ground, when the green is back, the greyish slush is gone, and the squirrels have lost weight. And in Ann Arbor, we may get to experience this yearly phenomenon for two full weeks, if we are lucky. After that, the heat climbs above tolerable, the humidity threatens to steam clean your clothing while you wear them and the sun's rays become too painful. But when the glorious moment of actual meteorological spring arrives, all peoples will abandon their self-imposed hybernation and head for the outdoors, in all their personal colors. From flannels to silk, from polyester to leather, the fabrics people will wear distiguish themselves like the budding flowers in the Diag. That is what we tried to accomplish with this issue: to show the different styles you'll see all around campus once Mother Nature has worked her magic. And all the fruit people may be eating. Remember, we're talking Garden of Eden, here. And to make this issue, those of us whose names appear elsewhere on this page in the staff box received help from many people. The most obvious help we received was from the stores whose clothing you'll see on the following pages. Their generosity and occasional patience in lending their merchandise to us were vital to this issue. Also, we received help from various Daily Advertising Executives who helped direct us to stores which fulfilled our wants and desires. Also we would like to thank stores which offered their services, but for whatever reason, we were not able to fully accept their generosity. Not only did we require clothing for our Fashion Issue, but we needed to find the proper locations in which to shoot them. Different moods and different occasions required not only the proper styles of clothes, but the right backdrop. We found them, and made the most of them, with the help of the following people and places: Matther Botanical Gardens, Busch's Valu-land, t University,.U-Club, Cranbrook Educational Community, the North Campus Recreational Building, and Joanna & Richard Friedman, whose bedroom we invaded early one Saturday morning. So we had the clothes and we had scouted out the right locations. We even had models. One of the finishing touches came from the proper hair styling for our models, and to do that, we received on-sight help from Lora Rosenbaum from Anneke's and Diana Ferrell and Rob from A Cut Above, who provided their services in ti name of making our models look marvelous. And last but not least, there are the models. Without them, the photos would have been of heaps of clothing lying on the ground (and the stores would most assuredly have loved that). One of the most amazing things about these folks is the hard work they put in (and actually getting up early on Saturdays), all the while working for nothing but the satisfaction of a job well done (and getting their picture in the paper is no small bonus). Je-Won didn't even get a "Sports Illustrated Special"-type call to tellI she was going to be on the cover. If you run into one of them around campus, and like what you see here, feel free to compliment them. And if you run into Kevin, you have our permission to tell him how beautiful he is, dammit. Enjoy the rest of the issue. The Editors Megan Clark Sophmore inpre-med. "M y favorite fruit is Kiwi" Jamie Cotton Art School "(I) recently moved here from Colorado.
