The Michigan Department of Public Health
for Health Promotion expects the possible
availability of position(s). These positions
vary in the previous professional experience
required. Duties may include large database
maintenance, knowledge of statistical
methods, appropriate analyses, and their
interpretation, sampling, survey
development, and the ability to produce
written reports. Others could include the
requirement of in-depth knowledge of
epidemiological methods (particularly of
chronic diseases). Expertise in SPSS and
other database software is highly desirable.
Statisticians, biostatisticians, epidemiologists,
and others with rigorous training in statistics
are urged to call for further information. A
bachelor's degree with not less than 12
semester (or 18 term) credits in statistics
(these can be graduate level) is required. One
to two years of professional experience in the
systematic collection, compilation, and
interpretation of numerical data also are
