"Join us at the farm and learn to know yourself," said American Behavioral Science 20 years ago. But they give
few details: Where was this farm? Was it an agricultural plot, or were there animals too? And what if once you
learned to know yourself, you didn't like being in your own company? Did they introduce you to a new you? "We
teach communication," they claim. But if you're just getting to know yourself, who do you need to communicate
with? Your inner child? Your past lives? Apparently, "In 1974 a state of accelerated change is the static
situation." A year unlike those before it no doubt. "We live in a time of immensity and intensity" swear the
leaders of American Behavioral. We at Weekend etc. have one word to say to that: Groovy.
