2- The Michigan Daily - Monday, November 15, 1993 APPLICATION Continued frm page I security number are the reasons why a shxetwould notreceive afotm by mail. "If (students) don't receive a form (in the mail), they can come in (to OFA) and start over with a new appli- cation," said Nowak. "This is an important document people should carefully fill out. Do- ing a good job is critical," shie added. The federal financial aid form is especially critical to University stu- dents because the University uses the federal form to award state and insti- tutional aid. Nowak also emphasized that ifthe form is not filed correctly it could extend the waiting period for aid, which may present a problem since the financial aid office is already on a two-month delay due to government modifications in the qualifying and applying process. Despite the fall aid delays, Re- newal applications will be arriving soon. Students can look for informa- tionaboutthe Renewal form in OFA's newsletter, which will be sent to local addresses. If there are any problems, Nowak added, "Absolutely come in and see (us). We're here to help." DIVERSITY Continued from page 1 do more than they have been to im- prove diversity on campus. "We need to at least protect the diversity we have," Smith said. "Ann Arbor is a subtle racist town. We put out a facade that we care, but it's no further than cosmetic." Students' Party candidates want to reorganize MSA for a more active grass-roots campaign. Students' Party co-chair Devon Bodoh said one particular focus ofhis party is the Campus Sexual Assault Victim's Bill of Rights that is cur- rently being discussed in the state House of Representatives. "It's time for the administration to takea stand on sexual assault," Bodoh said. Michigan Party candidate Jeff Alexander said he thinks his party promotes diversity by the quality of its candidates. "We have your button-down con- servatives, free-wheeling liberals and the people in the middle," Alexander said. "This creates discourse which leads to better policy, which (in turn) leads to better programs and their eventual implementation." DEBATE Continued from page l because the candidates can prove the loss of their name would cause harm. "They've been campaigning for weeks under the name of Beavis n' Butt-Head. Students wouldn't recog- nize them without it on the ballot," he said. The court also decided against the two suits filed by the Beavis n' Butt- Head party that claimed the assembly could not prohibit the use of nick- names and that the election should be postponed because MSA did not post a sample ballot. Beavis n' Butt-Head candidate Brent House said he was disappointed with the court's decisions because they were made by only three jurors. "It seems to be a complete disre- gard forourFirst Amendmentrights," House said. "The whole thing makes us really mad because the Keg Party did this to eliminate the competition." Pava defended his party. "If it hadn't been Brent or the conservative party in disguise, we wouldn't have filed that suit," Pava said. "It's giving cool names a bad name." Kight said he was surprised the Keg Party challenged the name with such seriousness afterlastyear's light- hearted attempts to bring other par- ties before CSJ for the same charges. "I don't like the (Beavis n' Butt- Head) party. I hope they lose. But they have a right to call themselves what they are," Kight said. "This isn't going to deceive anybody."
