Worst Dancing Spot: Nectarine Ballroom This club's highlights include a bunch of bored students crammed onto a sweaty overheated dance floor and the worst selection of music this side of Ypsilanti. Best Concert in Past Year: Spin Doctors Sorry U2, you put on a good show, but you couldn't come close to the Doctors, riding high with their "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong." Best Radio Station: 89X Ever since 88.7 expanded theirnight- time alternative format to 24 hours, they've served as Detroit's venue for modem music. nality. Best Local Band: The Bartonians Hey, we've never heard of them either, but they must be good. Best Place to go in Altered State: The Arb There's plenty of wide open spaces for people to run around in without getting hurt. And you can always puke in the bushes. Best Place to Meet a Mate: Class That's right, those big lecture halls are nothing but meat markets, and best of all, they rotate every semester. Best Pick-up Line: (tie) "Want to watch some TV?" and "Can I get you a drink?" The people who voted in this cat- egory don't earn any points for origi- Best Rejection Line: (tie)"I have a boyfriend" and "NO" The first line is a killer. "NO" is always short and sweet. The Daily hon- orable mentions go to"I don'tdate men with combs in their back pocket"and"I like your friend better." Best Place for First Date: (tie) Amer's and the Arb Amer's is good for a neutral atmo- sphere to get to know someone you're not sure about. On the otherhand, if you want to jump on your date's bones then the Arb provides plenty of privacy. Best Secret Rendezvous: (tie) Grad Library and the Arb Thereareplenty oflittlenooks toget lost in, especially in the geography sec- tion. The Arb needs no explanation. Best Date Movie: "Aladdin" "Thelma and Louise" and "The Si- lence of the Lambs" made surprisingly strong showings in this category, but apparently most voters weren't ready for that kind of "whole new world" of dating. Worst Date Movie: "The Crying Game" Gee, we can't imagine why. Best Late Paper Excuse: Com- puter broke I Computer error That's right, blame everything on those damn machines. Best Cutting Class Excuse: Nap There's no more valuable way to spend your time.
