This special division watches the areas around fraternities and student houses for minors in possession, open intoxicants and loud parties during the football season. The following is a sample of some of the calls they responded to over the last two'weekends. (Upper left) Staff Sgt. Dan Waites writes a ticket for possession of open intoxicants. The subject was walking on Hill Street near E. University St. when Sgt. Waites spotted him drinking from a can of beer. (Upper right) Officer Thomas Kemp issues a ticket for a noise violation to a resident of 818 Oakland after responding to a complaint from a neighbor. The residents said that they were celebrating a friend's twenty-first birthday and watching the sixth game of the World Series. The party was limited to a small amount of friends, but they still received their second ticket of the year. (Above) Dorie Hicks, a member of the Gamma Tau Omega fraternity thanks Waites. He called the police to his party when students from EMU came uninvited. It took the police about fifteen minutes to clear out the party-crashers. The party patrol offers this service in an effort to help keep parties under control. No tickets or warnings were issued to the fraternity.
