FILMS HOLDING: BOB ROBERTS lim Robbins stars and directs this mock documentary about a right-wing political candidate. It's a one-joke movie, but it's a darn funny joke. And with songs like "'he 'imes are Changin' Back," we really wish he'd release the soundtrack. At Showcase: 2:30. CAPTAIN RON If you want to see a good Kurt Russell movie, rent "t Ised Cars"; if you want to see a bad one, see anything since, including this one with Martin Short. GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS It's got the powerhouse male cast of the (eCade (.Jack I.einmmon, Al Pacino, Alec Baldwin, Id Iarris, Jonathan Pryce, and elan Arkin). It's a good David Mainet play, but on film, it dies. At Showcase: 12:30, 2:40, 5:00, 7:35, 10:05, 12:20 HERO This attempt to "make 'em like they used to" falls flat on its face, despite the noble efforts of Geena Davis, Dustin 1 offman and Andy Garcia. HUSBANDS AND WIVES Woody may have made a mess of his personal life, but this is one of his best films since "Ilannah and her Sisters." Judy Davis is the best thing to come out of Australia since Foster's Lager. Catch t before it leaves, it's not making too much money. At Showcase: 12:15, 2:40, 5:00, 7:30 INNOCENT BLOOD John Landis' latest is actually better than "An Ameri- can Werewolf in London," and Anne Parrillaud is still mighty cool. At Showcase: 9:55, 12:15. THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS After months of shuffling the release date, Hollywood finally lets Daniel Day-Lewis's first film since his Oscar win for "My Left Foot" see the light of day. And guess what, it's really good. At Showcase: 12:10, 2:35, 4:55, 7:25, 9:50, 12:05 THE MIGHTY DUCKS Emilio Estevez continues his downward spiral since the great "Repo Man" with this "Bad News Bears" meets "Slapshot" schlock. At Showcase: 12:10, 2:30, 4:50, 7:15, 9:40, 11:50. MR. BASEBALL Director Fred Schepisi continues his downward spiral since the great "A Cry in the Dark" with this "Bull l)urham" meets "Gung Ho." At Showcase: 12:40, 3:00, 5:20, 7:50, 10:15, 12:25 SINGLES Cfuneron Crowe's ("Say Anything") latest is a romantic comedy about young folks in love for young folks in love. It's not all that great, but any movie that gives 'Tad and Eddie Vedder lines is hard to resist. With Matt Dillon, Bridget Fonda, Kyra Sedgwick, Campbell Scott (just chockfull of those yuppie movie stars) and a swingin' Seattle soundtrack. At Showcase: 12:30, 2:40, 4:50, 7:20, 9:35, 11:40. SNEAKERS Phil Alden Robinson's follow-up to "Field of Dreams" is as stale as J. Danforth Quayle. Robert Redford ought to stay behind the camera. (See related story, page 8.)
