Plunder the Boardwalk

Dollar per pound, the Boardwalk
Buffet and Grill is the best deal this
side of Geppetto's all-you-can-eat
pizza night. The prodigal child of a
Ponderosa and smorgasbord,
Boardwalk's buffet will conquer in-
satiable gourmands and leave dain-

flavored gravies boldly accent each
other, and the macaroni and cheese is
just like mom used to make (if she
worked in an airport cafeteria).
Therestaurant was once a genuine
Ponderosaandstill looks it.Dark green
carpeting cleverly hides stains over-
eager patrons may cause. The aisles
are wide, ventilation is good, and ev-
ery table has a clear view of the buffet
so you can keep an eye out for fresh
loads of food. The giant, steaming, U-
shaped buffet is an ergonomic de-
light. Amateurs will quickly master it
and go on to explore the intricacies of
the sundae bar. N.B.: be careful not to
stare too closely at the sneeze guards.
Service is fast. Skillful waiters/
waitresses scurry around picking up
plates and asking if the food is good
(like that matters). Hungry heifers
may want to ask for several extra
plates at a time. Don't be afraid of
telling your waitperson that the buffet
is out of an item. Do be afraid of
asking them how the whitefish is
"blackened."

if quantity means more to you than
quality, get there.
Neophytes may scoff or guffaw,
but the Boardwalk will convince. If
the spaghetti doesn't strike a chord,
try the Swedish meatballs, jello salad,
stuffing, meatloaf, creamed corn, etc.
The buffet is diverse enough to make
a true believer out of even the most
finicky. Fortes include the chicken
wings (fried/barbecued), french fries,
and taco bar. "Brown" and "yellow"
