InwocEnT BLOOD Will John Landis's latest be as good as "An American Werewolf in London?" And can French sensation Anne Parillaud speak English intelligibly? At Showcase: 12:15, 2:40, 5:05, 7:40, 10:10, 12:25 THE LAST OF THE MoHicANs Well, after months of shuffling the release date, Hollywood finally lets Daniel Day-Lewis's first film since his Oscar win for "My Left Foot" see the light of day. At Briarwood: 10, 12:10, 2:30, 4:50, 7:20, 9:45, 11:55 At Showcase: 12:10, 2:35, 4:55, 7:25, 9:45, 12. MR. SATURDAY NIGHT Billy Crystal: genius or just the latest in a series of self-serious, annoying actors who think they can direct? At Ann Arbor: 12:15, 2:30, 4:45, 7:20, 9:45; At Showcase: 1:25, 4:20, 7:35, 10:10, 12:30. SARAFINA! Adaptation of the popular Broadway musical about South Africa. See review, page 5. FILMS HOLDING: BLADE RUNNER Oh boy, it's the director's cut. Maybe there was a reason they left some scenes out. Oh, sorry, "Electric Sheep" purists, please forgive our ignorance. At Showcase: 1:40, 4:20, 7:40, 10:15, 12:30.. CAPTAIN RON If you want to see a good Kurt Russell movie, rent "Used Cars"; if you want to see a bad one, see anything since, including this one with Martin Short. At Briarwood: 10:15, 12:30, 2:45, 4:45, 7, 9,11:15 at Showcase: 12:20, 2:35, 4:45, 7:15, 9:30, 11:40. HELLRAISER III: HELL ON EARTH Another of the great trilogies. And * sadly enough, this moneymaking dog was produced by Miramax Films - which used to make good movies. At Showcase: 2:35, 9:25, 11:25. HONEYMOON IN VEGAS Hilarious comedy with James Caan, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Nicholas Cage, probably the best deadpan comic around. Elvis, or at least several flying impersonators of him, lives! At Showcase: 12:30, 2:40, 4:50, 7:10, 9:25, 11:30 HUSBANDS AND WIVES Woody may have made a mess of his personal life, but this is one of his best films since "Hannah and her Sisters." Judy Davis is the best thing to come out of Australia since Foster's Lager. And director-turned-actor Sydney Pollack is awfully good too. At Briarwood: 10:05, 12:10, 2:20, 4:35, 7, 9:15; at Showcase: 12:15, 2:35, 4:55, 7:30, 9:55, 12:10. ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOw No advance screening; not yet re- viewed. At Briarwood: 11:30. SCHOOL TIES It's got a bunch of hunks but a serious theme too, dealing with anti-Semitism in the '50s. With the Encino Man himself, Brendan Fraser. At Briarwood: 10:15, 12:30, 2:35, 4:40, 7:15, 9:30, 11:45 At Showcase: 12:40, 3, 5:20, 7:50, 10:15, 12:25. SINGLES Cameron Crowe's ("Say Anything") latest is a romantic comedy about young folks in love for young folks in love. It's not all that great, but any movie that gives Tad and Eddie Vedder lines is hard to resist. With Matt Dillon, Bridget Fonda and a swingin' Seattle soundtrack. At Briarwood: 10:05, 12, 2:05, 4: 15, 7, 9:05, 11:15; At Showcase: 12:30, 2:40, 4:50, 7:20, 9:35, 11:40. SINGE WHrm FEMALE Fine, fine acting from Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh, utterly wasted in this cheesy "Fatal Attraction"-style thriller. See "Singles" instead if you need a good date movie. At Showcase: 9:50, 12:05. SISTER Acr $100 million and counting. It says a lot about the quality of summer movies that this one was a sleeper hit. At Showcase: 12:20,4:40, 7:10. SmEiArus Phil Alden Robinson's follow-up to "Field of Dreams" is as stale as J. Danforth Quayle. Robert Redford ought to stay behind the camera. At Briarwood: 10, 12:15, 2:40,4:55, 7:25, 9:55, 12:10; At Show- case: 1:15, 4:00, 7:20, 10:05,12:30. U woRcavm Clint Eastwood is one of the most interesting directors around. See this one, then catch his underrated "White Hunter, Black Heart" on video. Featuring Richard Harris, who steals scenes from the great Gene Hackman - now that's an accomplishment. At Showcase: 4:05,7:05. WIND This dog's checking out of theaters faster than Hurricane Andrew.
