Detroit extended its win- ning streak to 11 games in the Silverdome and handed Dennis Green his first loss as coach of the Vikings. Detroit's Mel Gray scored on a 58-yard punt return, Melvin Jenkins on a 56-yard return of a blocked field goal and Jerry Ball returned a fumble 21 yards for a touchdown. Rodney Peete threw a 16-yard TD pass to Willie Green and Jason Hanson kicked a 35-yard field goal for Detroit. The Vikings didn't manage a touchddown until the fourth quarter, when Terry Allen scored on a 3-yard run and Anthony Carter caught an 11-yard scoring pass from Rich Gannon. Gray fielded Harry Newsome's punt at the 42 and veered right through a gap in Minnesota's cover- age. Gray shook a tackle by New- some at the 25, got a block from Sheldon White at the 15 and broke- another tackle inside the 10 before, stumbling into the end zone. The Vikings got a 52-yard field goal by Fuad Reveiz on the fourth snap of the second quarter.
