WHY: Powers, the Wolverines' starting tailback rushed for 118 yards on 23 carries in
Michigan's 42-0 defeat of Purdue Saturday. Powers also rushed for two touchdowns coveringr
11 and seven yards, and had one reception for nine yards.
BACKGROUND: Powers was Michigan's second leading rusher last season with 748 yards,
establishing a record for a true frosh ... finished 11th in the Big Ten last season in rushing
yards per game with 57.8 ... rushed for 112 yards on 14 carries in last season's Gator Bowl .
