WHO: Nicole Hoover
TEAM: Field Hockey
HOMETOWN: Escondido, Ca.
YEAR: Sophomore
ELIGIBILITY: Sophomore
WHY: Hoover shut out the potent Iowa offense through
regulation and halfway through overtime. The undefeated
Hawkeyes have not been shut out yet this season. In
Saturday's match against Michigan State, Hoover shutout the
Spartans, this time recording the win in the Wolverines' 2-0
victory.
BACKGROUND: earned starting job midway through rookie
season. Prep ... San Marcos High School (1990) ... 1986-90
San Diego all-Academic ... Academic all-America ... San
Marcos Courier Prep Athlete of the Year ... two-time all-
Avacado League first-team selection ... basketball all-league,
setting school record for three-pointers ... set school record
for most RBI's in softball.

Griddes goes to the wire
Although there were close finishes Saturday,
Griddes was the tightest of all. Nineteen people
tied with 16 correct picks. Marc Milobinski won the
contest by virtue of his 38-30 prediction.
