With 23 kills, three aces, four digs and two blocks in the championship match against Northern Illinois, she helped lead the Wolverines to the tournament title. Horrigan has been a major reason for the Wolverines' impressive 8-2 start this season and looks to be a force in the Big Ten. Saturday, the former Wolverine added yet another feather to his al- ready well-decorated cap: United States Swimming's 1991 Swimmer of the Year. To gain the award for an un- precedented third straight time, Barrowman this year has twice reset the world record in the 200-meter breaststroke; first at the World Championships in Perth, Australia, I', and more recently, at the United States Swimming National Champ- ionships, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Furthering his credentials for nomination, Barrowman captained the Wolverines to their sixth straight Big Ten title and a sixth- place finish at the NCAA Champ- ionships. At the NCAAs, Barrow- man captured his third straight 200- yard breaststroke title. Also, he was named Big Ten Jesse Owens Athlete of the Year; the first swimmer ever to receive the award. , ' . 1 r .r.... After Michigan State last Saturday, another Big Ten cream puff, Purdue, appears on the Notre Dame schedule. Few would repute it is harder to pick 18 winning teams out of 20 games on the collegiate circuit than picking one's nose. The enormous number of upsets have given even the most knowledgeable prognosticators fits this season. Maybe Lou nose something. Give his picking technique a try. Griddes protocol is as simple as picking one's nose too. Just circle your picks and fill out the tiebreaker. Also, make sure to bring your entry to the Daily in the Student Publications building at 420 Maynard Street by 5 p.m. Friday for your chance to win a $10 gift certificate to O'Sullivan's Eatery & Pub. Last week's winner was Amy Golden. Golden correctly picked 17 games, including Illinois over Houston to win the prize. 1. Florida St. at Michigan 2. Rutgers at Michigan St. 3. Notre Dame at Purdue 4.
