Everitt, Skrepenak, and Elliott
return from that fearsome squad.
However, Michigan coach Gary
Moeller has frequently said he will
miss the leadership Dean
Dingman and Tom Dohring
brought to the team, and he
doesn't know if it can be replaced.
Moeller also worries about the
preseason hype, which labels
Michigan's line the best in the
nation.
"The more they talk about that
offensive line, the iofter they're
going to make it," he said. "As a
coach, sometimes you have to be
more aggressive in coaching those.
positions. I don't think our
offensive line is any better than
our skill positions."
But quarterback Elvis Grbac's
confidence in his protectors runs
deep. "The line has gelled ovet
the last few years - they've
played just about every type of
defense," he said. "They deserve
the credit they get."
After working out all summer
in Ann Arbor, Skrepenak certainly
isn't satisfied with last year's
accomplishments. Not only does
he want to impress NFL scouts,
he also wants to win a national
championship.
"I've won the Rose Bowl and
three Big Ten Championships,"
he said. "There's really one thing
left for me to do in college, and
that's towinit all."14
