WHY: Sturm led the young volleyball squad in a stunning
defeat of nationally-ranked Illinois on Saturday.
Sturm called the match the greatest of her four-year
career. The lone Wolverine senior led the upstarts
with 17 kills in 40 attempts while forcing only four
errors.
BACKGROUND: Received post-season Offensive Award
for team leading 236 kills in 1989...Set new
Michigan single season record for block assists in a
Big Ten season with 64... Majoring in mechanical
engineering.
