Hitchcock's first American film won
an Oscar for Best Picture. Joan
Fontaine marries Laurence Olivier
and finds her new home "haunted"
by Olivier's ex-wife Rebecca, who
died under mysterious circumstances.
Fontaine's feelings of inadequacy
compared to Rebecca are increased
by a vicious housekeeper and an
overwhelming mansion full of
reminders of Rebecca's past
presence. A psychological thriller
that's romantic and creepy.

An ex-mental patient kidnaps a
female porn star he idolizes and,
that's right, he ties her up and ties
herdown. This kinky comedy
received too much publicity because
of its X-rating and many took offense
to this whole bondage idea, although
it was simply a metaphor for modem

sappy, romantic, funny, and a must
for movie lovers. Set in a small
Sicilian village' wo see all aspects of
the community through their
moviegoing and through the eyes of
one person who practically grows up
inside the theater. A good date'film.

Spectacular film with Charleton
Heston as the tile character. Set 2000
years ago, Ben-Hur is enslaved by his
lifelong friend and seeks revenge. He
survives slaveship, Roman games and
finally gets some religion. The

Kooky animated film where the
Beatles must go to Pepperland to
battle the Blue Meanies with music.
Sergeant Peppr music is accompanied
by psychedelic imagery, and visuals
are imaginative. Too bad the Beatles
didn't provide their own voices to the
cartoon characters, but movie is still
loads of surreal fun.
(Bob Rafelson, 1968)

The Monkee's only film which is as
incoherent as their TV show. Has a
political side to it which the TV show
didn't - obligatory footage of
Vietnam - but has the usual
boneheaded jokes, psychedelic shots
and '60s-style music videos.

Filmed in 1965 in San Francisco,
Bruce combines his stand-up act with
comments on his obscenity
convictions. His act might seem tame
by today's standards, but his was

This biography of Lenny Bruce stars
Dustin Hoffman and focuses on
Bruce's troubled marriage and
conflicts with the law over his
