* I T The University of Michigan Union March 12 to March 18,1989 UNION ack reads The U-Club is planning to expand its horizons this week- end, past reggae and past rock, past folk guitars and past comedians...to poetry. Prof. Bert Hornback, one of the giants of literature on campus, will appear twice to read the poetry of William Butler Yeats, that quintessential Irish poet. This is the same Bert Hornback who ap- pears each Christmas as Charles Dickens to read "A Christmas Carol" to great acclaim. This time he will interpret, not imper- sonate, Yeats. He will appear with Fran Norton, who will sing Irish ballads. Join them at the U- Club on the first floor of the Union on Friday, March 16th at 5:30 and again on Saturday, March 17th at 8:00. Hornback does not mean for this to be a boisterous, brawling St. Patrick's Day event so much as a hushed, evocative, perhaps mystical, Irish event. Make this your alternative to green beer and raucous hilarity! frientWooshop Do you know that the Student Woodshop, a well-equipped cabinet and furniture making facility, is right nearby in the Student Activities Building at Maynard? But before you start creating masterpieces, you should know how to create them safely. So the Woodshop is sponsoring two more safety classes on Wednesday, March 14th and Thursday, March 15th, both from 3-5 pm. Call Kurt Vosburgh at 763-4025 for more information. Pool ournament to Benefit the Handicapped This is a really generous event and fun besides!
