VICTORS

Since the human race first started to record its history, no school has
ever captured the coveted Rose Bowl and NCAA Championship in the
same year. In 1989 that all changed though, as the Wolverines won the
Rose Bowl and NCAA tournament. This page attempts to recapture the
jubilant feelings and triumphant emotions all Michigan athletes and fans
felt in the year of Rice and roses.

like they were on "Fantasy Island" after the
Wolverines victory over Virginia, launching them into
the Final Four in Seattle.

ASU, you can have him
Athletic Director Bo Schembechler congratulates Coach Steve
Fisher. After winning the title, Bo decided that Fisher was the
rightful heir to the coaching vacancy left when Bill Frieder headed to
Arizona St.
