But that seems to be the overall
mode on The Cinderella Theory,
one of maximum improvement. Over
the span of ten cuts, (twelve on CD),
George has produced a great, great
record, perhaps the best of his solo
career. On some of his earlier
records, it seemed like George was
riding a wave, hanging in for the
ride; or stranger still, pressing his
mental trips onto wax. This time,
the father of funk has elevated the
form to its proper place, where past
and present come together, pointing
out the future. I highly recommend it
for anyone who jammed to
"Flashlight" or "Atomic Dog," or
anyone who likes a concept and a
groove, as well.
