Todd Brost scored twice, and Kent Broth- ers and Rob Brown each tallied a goal to knot the game at five. In double overtime. Mike Moes snuck the puck through a defenseman's legs, scored. and the hockey team brought back t. Ann Arbor a cham- pionship of its own. Toughest Loss The Michigan Hockey Team After receiving home-ice in the Central Collegiate Hockey Associa- tion playoffs for the first time ever, Michigan lost in the opening round. In the third and deciding game, Bowling Green's Rob Blake scored the winning goal in triple overtime to end the Wolverines season. All this despite the Performance of the year, turned in by goaltender Warren Sharples, who tallied over 50 saves, many of them dazzling. I can't hear you? What was your record in the Big Ten? 1-}7? 1-17? Biggest Wimp Bill Frieder Yep, he leaped out of Michigan on the eve of the tournament to take a job at Arizona State. He said it hurt that the fans didn't appreciate him. Well Bill, no one really appre- ciated you jumping ship, and the Michigan students don't appreciate the black eye you gave this school with your antics and comments. Good riddance. And congratulations to Bo Schembechler for making the Call of the Year when he said he wanted a Michigan man to coach a Michi- gan team in the tournament. It pro- vided the Biggest Fairy Tale of the Season, as Steve Fisher led Michi- gan to the national title. Someone should tell Steve he can wake up now.
