A basket by Rex Chapman, who scored 25 points, gave the Hornets the lead at 120-118 with one minute 21 seconds left in overtime. Tripucka and Tyrone Bogues scored baskets to make it 124-118 with 50 seconds remaining, putting the game out of reach. Mike Gminski scored 25 and Hersey Hawkins 19 for the 76ers, who saw their five-game winning streak ensd. The victory was the first in overtime in the history of the Hornets and only the 10th win of their first season in the NBA. The Hornets have lost one game in overtime. HAWKS 117, BULLETS 106.: Dominique Wilkins scored 28 points as the Atlanta Hawks snapped a three-game losing streak. Cliff Levingston and Mosgs Malone led a fourth-quarter Atlanta comeback that erased an 11-point deficit in less than four minutes. Levingston had seven points, including the tying basket with 8:0 left in the game, and Malone six in- 15-4 Atlanta run. "It was nice for him to play well for once on national TV. The Wolverine defense held Jay Burson, Ohio State's leading scorer, to only 12 points, well below his season average. Perry Carter's 17-led. No. 16 Ohio State. "They just overwhelmed us on the boards and flat out beat us," Ohio State coach Gary Williams said. "Some nights you just get beat by a better team." MICHIGAN improved its record to 15-2 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten. Ohio State fell to 12-4 and 2-2. The story of the first half was Michigan moving the ball inside and controlling the offensive boards. Twenty of Michigan's first-half points came on second efforts. Also, the Wolverines held Ohio State to only six offensive rebounds, none after the game's first five minutes. After trading baskets to start the game, Michigan went on a six-point run to take a 12-7 lead with 16:27 left in the half. The Wolverines built their lead by working the ball inside and pounding the offensive boards. Michigan took nearly five minutes to shoot a trademark three- pointer.
