It would be tough, missing young voices and not being able to hear the sounds of a family celebration. Your loss of independ- ence and your sur- roundings would make you feel isolated, alone. Give a few hours to an elderly person. Brighten someone's day, just by being yourself. There are eleven nurs- ing homes right in Washtenaw County full of people who would just love to visit with you for a while. As a nursing home volun- teer, you can help with activities put on by the staff, such as holiday par ties, games, movies, music or ar t classes, and more. You can visit in- dividual residents, you can help write letters, you can bring someone a bouque t of fall leaves. Share your ideas, your enthusiasm, your youth with an older person this holiday season. You'll be thrilled at how much you can learn from an older person, and how good it'll make you feel!
