FRIDAY
EQUINOX FLOWER
(Yazujiro Ozu, 1958) Lorch 7:00
This is Ozu's first color film and
a 35mm print will be used, making
it all the better. The movie is about
daughters who plot to avoid going
through with their arranged mar-
riages. Admission is free.
A TAXING WOMAN (Juzo
Itami, 1988) Michigan Theater
6:45
The new comedy from the direc-
tor of Tampopo; but this time the
concern is money not food. Tax
agents go after tax evaders in ways
that make the average vice squad
look like the Mouseketeers.

MIDNIGHT RUN (Martin
Brest, 1988) Michigan Theater
9:15
It's a close call between who
turns in the better performance as
Robert DeNiro, a bounty hunter,
drags Charles Grodin across the
country to earn $100,000.
THE MIRACLE OF MOR-
GAN'S CREEK (Preston
Sturges, 1944) Aud A 7:00
A young woman becomes preg-
nant by a soldier, and she doesn't
even remember his name. But she
won't admit to having done so out
of wedlock, either. With Betty
Hutton and William Demerest.
HAIL THE CONQUERING
HERO (Preston Sturges, 1944)

Aud A 9:00
A marine-reject tries to keep his
mother convinced that he is serving
his country on the front lines, but
he runs into some trouble when he
runs into some real marines.
BLADE RUNNER (Ridley
Scott, 1982) MLB 3 7:30 & 9:30
Harrison Ford stars in this
futurist tale of a bounty hunter,
with the twist that his prey is
robots that have come to earth to
kill. With Rutger Hauer, Sean
Young and Daryl Hannah.
THE APARTMENT (Billy
Wilder, 1960) MLB 4 7:15
Jack Lemmon is an enterprising
young businessperson who lends
his apartment to his bosses for their
non-catered affairs, but things get
complicated when he meets Shirley
MacLaine, a suicidal ex-lover of

one of the bosses. Won the Oscar
for Best Film of the Year.
SUNSET BOULEVARD
(Billy Wilder, 1950) MLB 4 9:30
Even though this film is almost
forty years old, it is still the ulti-
mate film about films. Gloria
Swanson is the former silent film-
star ("It's the movies that got
small") who hires William Holden
to write a comeback film for her.
And now she is ready for her close-
up.
POINT OF ORDER (Emile
DeAntonio, 1964) Nat Sci 7:00
Let us take you back to the time
of the Army-McCarthy hearings and
show that we don't have to go back
at all to find this kind of nonsense.
MEDIUM COOL (Haskell
Wexler, 1969) Nat Sci 9:00

Wexler is better known as a cin-
ematographer, but here he shows
his abilities as a director in this ac-
count of the 1968 Democratic party
convention riots told through the
eyes of a TV ("the cool medium")
cameraperson.
SATURDAY
FATHER OF THE BRIDE
(Vincente Minnelli, 1950) MLB 4
7:00
It's not easy for any father to lose
a daughter to another man, espe-
cially when you have to cover the
bills, which is exactly what hap-
pens to Spencer Tracey when
Elizabeth Taylor takes a husband.
