This film, well, It's Wonderful. SATURDAY NOSFERATU, THE VAM- PIRE (Werner Herzog, 1979) MLB 3 7:30 This vampire is not like any you have seen before. Herzog has created an atmosphere that captures the spirit of the subject. Klaus Maria Brandauer is terrific but almost helpless against the villain. THE HUNGER (Tony Scott, 1983) MLB 3 9:15 Probably the most bizarre inter- pretation of the vampire legend. This one turns into a menage a trois between Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon. The special effects are better than average, especially as Bowie with- ers away. THE MAGICIAN (Ingmar Bergman, 1950) Nat Sci 7:00 A stranger arrives in a small 19th century Swedish village, and whether he is a magician or a char- latan remains a mystery. Bergman uses this as a parable for his idea that film makers are the ultimate magicians. THROUGH A GLASS, DARKLY (Ingmar Bergman, 1961) Nat Sci 8:45 This movie won the award for Best Foreign Film, and is the first in the director's "island" trilogy.
