frustrated with the castle/hotel he
owns because of ghosts, so he de-
cides to turn it into a haunted
amusement park. But some Ameri-
can tourists, including Steve Gut-
tenberg, threaten to call the entire
place a hoax and the real ghosts,
including Daryl Hannah, are forced
to prove them wrong. Just guess
where the romance comes in. Tom
Hanks fell in love with Hannah as a
mermaid in Splash, so why
shouldn't Guttenberg fall in love
with her as a ghost.
Woody Allen, the one you might
expect a comedy from, is at work
on something else. At the moment
the film is called Woody Allen's
Up-Coming Film, and is a psycho-

logical drama about a woman who
finds out who she is and at the
same time finds out she's not who
she thought she was. Still sounds
like a comedy to me. With the
failure of his last film September,
also a non-comedy, the results of
this should be interesting.
Then there is David Cronenberg,
who makes no pretensions about
making comedies. The man who
remade The Fly now gives you
Dead Ringers. Jeremy Irons has the
dual role of playing twins, both of
whom get involved with the same
beautiful actress, played by
Genevieve Bujold. Both brothers are
destroyed as the result. This does
qw
not sound like a comedy to me, but
Cronenberg is able to be fun any-
way.
For a different type of film is the
motion picture premier of the group
U2, in U2 Rattle and Hum. They
decided to make a film because "we
want our audience to hear how we
work and how we create our songs
and our emotional commitment to
the music we play," says The Edge.
In conjunction with the film which
was made during the groups
American concert tour, Island
Records will release a double album
containing live tracks and original
U2 studio material.
