FRIDAY
I LIVED BUT... THE LIFE
AND WORKS OF YASJIRO
OZU (Kasuo Inoue, 1983) Lorch
7:00
This is the last film in the Ozu
Film Festival and a fitting conclu-
sion because it is a documentary on
the career of the great Japanese di-
rector. Admission is free.
WILD IN THE STREETS
(Barry Shear, 1968) Nat Sci 7:00
Max Frost is not a warm-hearted
boy. After numerous non-innocent
pranks, such as dumping LSD in

goes on to become president at age
nineteen. And then the problems
start. Shelley Winters Plays his
mother in the first of this week-
end's Ann Arbor Film Coopera-
tive's Shelley Winters' Weekend.
THE POSEIDON ADVEN-
TURE (Ronald Neame, 1972)
Nat Sci 8:45
One of the greatest disaster films

of all time. With a cast the size of
the ship, primarily Shelley Win-
ters, it's no wonder this liner top-
pled. The passengers must extricate
themselves from an upside-down
ship. Classic special effects.
THE LION IN WINTER
(Anthony Harvey, 1968) MLB 4
7:00
Peter O'Toole plays King Henry
II and Katherine Hepburn, Queen of
the Academy Awards, won her third
Oscar for her portrayal of Eleanor of
Acquitaine. The two engage in a
battle of wits, making the casting
perfect. And watch for the newest
James Bond, Timothy Dalton, in a
supporting role.
SUMMERTIME (David Lean,
1955) MLB 3 7:00
Katherine Hepburn is an Ameri-
can spinster-type who takes a vaca-.
tion in Venice and winds up falling
in love. Unfortunately the man she
falls for is married.

ONE, TWO, THREE (Billy
Wilder, 1961) MLB 3 7:00
If you thought the Pepsi-Coke
Wars were bad, try being on the
other side of the glass next time.
James Cagney plays a cola com-
pany executive who must keep his
firm above (soda) water, when the
threat comes from "Kremlin Cola".
SOME LIKE IT HOT (Billy
Wilder, 1959) MLB 3 9:00
Two musicians, Jack Lemmon
and Tony Curtis, witness the St.
Valentine's Day Massacre, so they
don female duds, join an all-female
band, and head south for the winter.
Problem is that Curtis falls for fel-
low band member Marilyn Monroe,
and a wealthy male admirer falls for
Lemmon. As hot a comedy as has
ever come out of Hollywood.
SATURDAY
CARTOON CLASSIX
(Various Directors, '30s and '40s)
MLB 3 7:00 & 8:40 & 10:20
A dozen of those cartoons we all

Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Elmer
Fudd in "Corny Concerto", "To

Duck Or Not To Duck", "Waikiki
Wabbit", Tom and Jerry in "Mouse
Cleaning", "Casanova Cat", and
"Quiet Please". Also three Felix the
Cat cartoons.
THE NIGHT OF THE
HUNTER (Charles Laughton,
1955) AUD A 7:00
Laughton's only attempt at di-
recting, but he never needed to try,
try again because he succeeded the
first time. Robert Mitchum is ter-
rific as the preacher who is loving
to the mother, Shelley Winters, but
hateful to the kids from whom he is
trying to extract the location of a
cache of money. More in the Ann
Arbor Film Coop's Shelley Win-
ters' Weekend.
A PLACE IN THE SUN
(George Stevens, 1951) AUD A
8:45
Shelley Winters plays a pregnant
working girl who threatens the fu-
ture of Montgomery Clift, a con-
fused, ambitious factory worker

An American Tragedy.

IT'S A WONDERFUL
LIFE (Frank Capra, 1946) MLB
4 7:00 & 9:30
The Christmas film for all
times! If you haven't seen it, then
do so. If you have seen it, you'll
want to again. Jimmy Stewart is
impeccable as the suicidal man who
gets to see how important he is to
those around him.
RAFFLES (Sam Wood, 1940)
Nat Sci 7:30
David Niven is Raffles, a cricket
player by day and a daring amateur
thief by night. Olivia de Haviland
co-stars.
THE BISHOP'S WIFE
(Henry Coster, 1947) Nat Sci 9:00
David Niven is a bishop so
wrapped up in his work of rebuild-
ing cathedrals that he lets his own
family start to fall apart. Loretta
Young plays the wife who falls for
Cary Gant, who is the angel sent to

charmer.
