Softball vs. Detroit (DH) Wednesday, 3 p.m. Varsity Diamond SPORTS Baseball vs. Wayne State (DH) Today, 2 p.m. Ray Fisher Stadium The Michigan Daily Wednesday, April 6, 1988 Page 9 WOMEN'S SOFTBALL SEEKS TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN APRIL Blue looks to win clash with By STEVEN COHEN Tomorrow, two up and down women's softball teams will do bat- tle in Ann Arbor as Michigan will face the University of Detroit. Michigan, after going 1-4 last week at the Bud Light Invitational in California, has been on a streak of late, winning its past four games to post a 9-8 record on the season. But even in defeat, the Wolverines have HELP WANTED played competitively losing six of the eight by one run. The Wolverines hope that they have purged the narrow losses from their system with the coming of the month of April. The April Wolver- ines, not their March counterparts, will have to show up as the 17-7 Titans should be a formidable foe. Detroit -has beaten some formidable teams, such as Penn HELP WANTED State and Michigan State. Detroit has both first-year students and three transfers in its starting lineup, which have led to bouts of inconsistency. "Lately we'll hit well in the first game but sometimes the intensity lets up in the second game," said Titan outfielder Jackie Pitts, who along with first basewoman Karen Awrylo and designated hitter Denise Tackett are the leaders of the Titans.
