There's plenty to say about these performers, too. They are really too much. This show would be worth attending if only to see Sam Rivers. Here is a completely original voice from the Coltrane generation and the opportunity to see him chair with Dizzy should not be missed. Really. Volumes could be written about Rivers; he is another bad cat. However, talk is cheap. And this show isn't. But my goodness! What you get for that "four-ple fin!" Dizzy Gillespie and Sam Rivers in a club the size of your living room. The proof is in the hearing the reward comes with listening and reflection. At 71, Gillespie hasn't got time to slow down. No way. He's hiring Sam Rivers! He knows that this is the music of life itself. Showtimes are 7:30 and 9:30 nightly with an additional late show at 11:30 Friday and Saturday.
