Mills led the Wolverines with 12 points in the first 20 minutes, but did not score a point in the second frame. That was a good indication of the team's lackluster performance. The Wolverines led 52-34 with 11:57 remaining, but the Broncos fought back with the help of numer- ous Michigan turnovers and missed free throws. "I think both Gary Grant and Rumeal Robinson played a little out of control in the second half and made some foolish turnovers," Michigan head coach Bill Frieder said. In the final 2:33, Michigan missed the front end of four one-and- one opportunities. Boise State pulled to within three with 18 seconds left on a three- pointer by King, which followed a missed free throw by Grant. "You could even say we choked on some of those free throws at the end," Frieder said. The Wolverines are now 25-7 and advance to the second round of the NCAAs for the fourth straight year. They will play the winner of last night's Florida-St. John's contest tomorrow at 2:20 p.m. EST. Boise State ended its season at 24-6. The Big Sky Conference champions were led by Arnell Jones with 13 points. The 10th-seeded Lions advanced to the second round yesterday by outgunning Wyoming, 119-115, in a game that showcased their explo- sive offense. "They shot the lights out," said Wyoming's Fennis Dembo. "They were possessed tonight. Woo! It was crazy. The Cowboys led 25-12 eight minutes into the game, but Loyola's offense took over, pouring in 51 points in the last 12 minutes of the first half. AT HALFTIME, Wyoming found itself in the unlikely position of having shot 67 percent from the field yet trailing by 11 points. Five members of the Lions scored 15 or more points, including Bo Kimble who led the team with 29. 4 ll I .- -.- - - -am ah - - _- - ;
