This is an exciting collaboration o f choreographers and young dancers working on what should prove to be an innovative and creative dance concert." He sees Zappa's composi- tions as a means of developing the expressive latitude of the artists in- volved in the project.. Widely recognized as one of the outspoken founders of the perfor- mance art movement Zappa is also hailed as an excellent musician. UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION: SUPREME COURT CASES by Denis Killeen This book distills two centuries of con- stitional development in a comprehen- sive and readable manner. More than 450 cases are discussed, many in capsule forn. The narrative flows from the early 19th century definition of the power of the Court to strike down a statute as uncon- stitutional to the recent voiding of a state requirement that creation be taught with evolution in the public schools. "Jazz From Hell", set to the mu- sic of Zappa's most recent album of the same name, will be Bill De Young's contribution to tonight's performance. His choreography has been commissioned by Joffrey II and NBC-TV, and he describes his dance as "reckless, volcanic, and off-bal- ance, full of broken-edged, fractured movement." The music will show- case Zappa's current experimenta- tions on the Synclavier, a computerized synthesizer. and multi- track recorder. This project is an opportunity for those unfamiliar with Zappa's music to become exposed to the range of his musical genius. For devout Zappa fans, it is a chance to experi- ence his music away from its usual context. From any approach, the choreography and performances of the University's Dance Department faculty and students will be exhibited in an unconventional and imagina- tive spectacle.
