The collec- tion features films from a dozen countries. HANNAH AND H E R SISTERS (Woody Allen, 1986) 9:15 p.m. Mich Woody seems to have mellowed out at the age of 50. It sure is nice to see him celebrate life for 110 minutes. During that time, he once again has trouble figuring out love and life in New York City. I know it sounds the same as Manhattan and Annie Hall, but Hannah stands on its own as one of Woody's best. AN EVENING OF CULT SHORTS 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Nat Sci Cult films-a good definition for this genre may be controversial. The Ann Arbor Film Co-op is sponsoring two different collections of cult shorts. The shows feature shorts by Salvador Dali, David Lynch and others. 81/2 (Frederico Fellini, 1963) 7:00 and 9:30 p.m. MLB 3 Fellini's most famous work is also his best. This is where he tells his life story, except for where he gets caught up in exploring a few fantasies. Italian with subtitles. SATURDAY- BANANAS (Woody Allen, 1971) 7:00 and 9:30 p.m. MLB 3 Well, two weeks of non-stop Woody Allen films is coming to and end. But don't worry, he'll be back next semester. But don't wait months when you can see Woody go from being a product tester to a South American revolutionary, topped off with Howard Cosell's play-by-play. GORKY PARK (Michael Apted, 1983) 7:00 and 9:15 p.m. Nat Sci William Hurt stars as a homi- cide investigator who uncovers cor- ruption at the Kremlin in this beautiful thriller set in modern-day Moscow. RETURN OF THE SEA- CAUCUS 7 (John Sayles, 1980) 7:00 and 10:20 p.m. MLB 4 This is where Mr. Kasdan got the idea to do The Big Chill. Sayles made a remarkable film about the reunion of some 1960's radicals for just $60,000. He used no "real" ac- tors, but was able to portray what 15 years of reality has done to a group of college buddies. BABY IT'S YOU (John .Sayles, 1982) 8:40 p.m. MLB 4 Rosanna Arquette and Vincent Spano are two high school students in love in the mid 1960's. Sayles. sure knows this time period well. For once, there is a semi-realistic film about youth in the '60s.. SUNDAY SECRET AGENT (Alfred Hitchcock, 1936) 7:00 and 10:15 p.m. MLB 4 Hitchcock's first all-out use of black humor steals the attention away from a WWI spy story set in the Swiss Alps. John Gielgud was a lot younger in 1936, and he was a great actor back then too. SABOTAGE (Alfred Hitch- cock, 1937) 8:45 p.m. MLB 4 Only Hitchcock can pull off the story of a traitorous foreign agent who somehow doesn't let his wife know about his profession. BLUE ANGEL (Josef Von Sternberg, 1930) 7:30 and 9:15 p.m. Nat Sci A professor warns his students not to get involved with a night- club singer (Marlene Dietrich), but he is the one who ends in a troubled sexual relationshin.
