D: Where is your grandmother
now? Doesn't she usually sit at the
front counter?
T: She been at home since May
when she had a heart attack.
D: Will she be returning to Drake's
T: No, she won't be coming back
to work.
D: Will you run the store from
now on?

T: Yes, I'm planning on taking
over and keeping up with the family
tradition.
D: Do you plan to make any
changes in how the business is run?
T: No. I'm going to try to keep it
as much the same as I can.
I think Drake's is such a tradition
on this campus because nothing has
changed in 58 years.
D: Do you envision Drake's
remaining a tradition on campus for
many years to come?

T: Oh definately. That's my
intention. That's why I put all the
hard work in that I do.
D: Is Drake's as popular now as it
was in earlier years?
T: Yes and no. Yes, because we
still get a lot of business, but I'd
say no because of all the other
places there are to go. It used to be
a really hot night spot but it seems
everybody is more interested in
going out and getting drunk or
going dancing.
D: How do you feel about the other
businesses in the area that have
changed?
T: A lot of it disappoints me
because there's a lot of people in
Ann Arbor that don't want things
changed. 3
