BROWN now finds himself atop
the Michigan and Big Ten record
books for the most interceptions
thrown in one game. Brown
shattered the previous Wolverine
mark of five set by Stan Noskin in a
1959, 19-10 loss to Wisconsin. The
seven interceptions. also ties a
conference record set when
Wisconsin picked off the same
number of Minnesota passes in
1954. Miller, while setting a school
record, ties two other players for
most individual interceptions in a
conference game.
A junior from Farmington Hills,
Miller entered the game with only
three career interceptions and never
more than one in a game.
"Today just happened to be my
day," he said. "It's something I could
never dream about. It's always nice
to have a big game against the
intrastate rival.
"We knew if we could put
pressure on (Brown), we could get
him to make some bad throws. A
couple of times we had two-on-one
coverage on Kolesar and Brown still
threw it:"
Brown, who has completed 46
percent of his passes and thrown 11
interceptions for the year, took much
of the blame for the loss. "I feel
somewhat responsible," he said.
"The more you turn the ball over,
the less chance you have to get
yourself back in the game, and I just
turned the ball over seven times.
Basically, I just made too many
mistakes."

Michigan State running back Lorenzo White rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns.

MICHIGAN STATE
intercepted three of Brown's
mistakes during the second quarter,
when the Spartans increased a four-
point first-quarter advantage to 14-3
by halftime.
White, the senior tailback from
Fort Lauderdale, Fla., did most of
the damage in winning the battle of
the Heisman hopefuls, as he
outgained Morris 185 yards (on 34
carries) to 108 yards (on 31 carries).
White constantly ran around the
left side of Michigan State's
offensive line, which is anchored by
preseason All American Tony
Mandarich (6-7, 289 pounds). By the
middle of the second quarter, White
already had surpassed the 100-yard
mark and would enter the locker
room with 142 yards.
In the process, White moved past
former Wolverine Butch Woolfolk
and into second place on the Big
Ten's all-time rushing list with
3,912 yards. He also moved into
48th place on the NCAA's all-time-.
rushing list, passing, among others,
Walter Payton and Ricky Bell. Eight
of White's rushes exceeded 10 yards,,
including a 47-yarder where he broke
left and then cut back across the
middle. '
With White's success, Michigan
State quarterback Bobby McAllister
was forced to throw only seven
times, of which five were complete
"To me, this is the my best
victory ever at Michigan State,"
White said. "Coming here and
learning about the Michigan-
Michigan State games, you know
they're going to be one of the top-
ranked teams."
