may be unsafe...The students who
plan to go to Nicaragua are mature
and aware of the journalistic and
security problems...This trip will
allow them to go into an arena of
political action and to get a good
story."
The U.S. state department, in
fact, has sent Corser a travel
advisory, discouraging the trip. It
termed the area a "dangerous zone."
"I'm not scared to go, my
mother's scared but I don't think
about the risk to my life," Corser
said.

Fifty-percent of the funds have also,
been promised. Among the
contributors are Hillel and Meridian

The students are also using the
prize awarded to them by the Leo
Burnett Scholarship for the trip.

equipment rental costs. The students
also plan to request funds from the'
Michigan Student Assembly and the
Ann Arbor City Council.
"I am appreciative to the
University for what it has given, but
we are looking for more University;
funding and believe more is
available," Corser said.
But Epton said, "they may have
some difficulty in getting the money
from the council. It takes eight votes
and Republican support, who are
somewhat hostile."

PONTIAC (AP) - Vice President
George Bush urged Michigan
Republicans yesterday to push for
Senate ratification of the intermediate
nuclear arms treaty, expected to be
signed next week by President
Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail
Gorbachev.
Bush addressed about 300 people
gathered at an "Ask George Bush
Town Meeting" at the Pontiac-
Oakland airport. about 35 miles
north of Detroit.
"We're about to get a deal where
the Soviets take out all 1,600
(weapons) and we take out our 400,

and for the first time in history
eliminate a whole class of weapons,"
he said.
