Furthermore By BRIAN BONET Veteran University lobbyist Keith Molin was appointed interim director of the Office of Communications January 1. Molin will serve while a nationwide search is conducted for a permanent head for the University's principal public relations office. Former director Robert Potter left to become director of communications for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. University President Harold Shapiro expressed confidence in Molin's ability to fill the position. "Keith Molin has worked for many years at the top levels of Michigan government and University administration where his talents, dedication, and involvement have greatly benefited the people of Ann Arbor," he said. Molin has been director of Capital Projects and assistant to the University's vice president for government relations since 1983. During his tenure the University received more than $200 million in funding for capital projects. Molin's experience in state government began in 1971 when he was the executive assistant for legislative affairs for former Michigan Governor William Milliken.
