Rounding out the
starring cast, Harry

as Bill Gannon, Joe

1960's television program
whose years of service
have now earned him the
rank of captain.
Co-starring are
Alexandra Paul as the
chaste, charming Connie
Swail, Elizabeth Ashley as
the austere police
commissioner Jane
Kirkpatrick, and Jack
O'Halloran as the sinister
saboteur Emil Muzz.
Filming took place at
various locations
throughout Los Angeles
and on sound stages at
Universal Studios.
The character Joe
Friday was first
introduced on the radio
program "Dragnet" by
Detroit station WXYZ in

1949. As conceived by
Jack Webb, the show was
based on real police cases
and procedures. This
brought an innovative
contrast to the caricature
cops who were then
dominating the airwaves.
The entertainment
world's most recognizable
four note theme ("Dum-
De-Dum-Dum") heralded
the series' television
debut on December 16,
1951. It ran for seven and
a half years, then left the
air to return again in
January of 1967 before
reciting its ultimate
epilogue in September,
1970.
This summer, Universal
Pictures will add a
comedic new chapter to
this venerable law
enforcement legacy when
Dan Aykroyd and Tom
Hanks team in the action-
comedy "Dragnet 1987"

props from the set of
"Dragnet 1987". As a
spokesperson for
Universal Studios stated,
"We are aware that there
is a real strong desire out
there for genuine movie
articles. You simply would
not believe the amount of
interest people would
have shown in owning, for
instance, items that
appeared in movies like
'E.T.' and 'Back To The
Future'." To capitalize on
this exciting idea, Miller
Genuine Draft and
Universal Studios will
offer people the chance
to win such highly desired
items as a Corvette
convertible or even the
BMW motorcycle driven
by Tom Hanks in
"Dragnet 1987". Point-of-
sale displays featuring
complete "Dragnet 1987"
promotion details will be
available this summer
wherever Miller Genuine
Draft is sold.
