Ramona, Ramona, Ramona...
k What's in a name?

I

It was many moons ago, in the ancient land
of the Incas. A Rame' bird glided
into sacrificial grounds.
There, a stranded Inca woman, called Ona,
gave birth to a little girl. The Rame' bird
was the sole witness, and flew back to the
. rest of the Community to relay the message...
You may be asking yourself, "What does this
have to do with Ramona the Corner Market
Coffee Lady?"

Yes, it's true, my name is as old as my
heritage. When I was born in South America,
a Rame' bird dominated the sky. Thus, I was
duped "Ramona." The "Corner Market Coffee
Lady" title came much later...but that's another
story for another time.

I

Like I always say, "Honey, if you haven't been to
the Corner Market lately, you haven't been to
market!"

FRIEDER
Continued from Page 8
As the clock expired during the
final 1985-86 regular season game
and thousands of screaming fans
rushed on the court, Frieder reached
his coaching pinnacle. The 80-52
annhiliation of coach Knight and
Indiana capped Michigan's most
successful regular season ever.
"The greatest thrill I've ever had
was last year when we played
Indiana for the Big Ten
Championships because it was the
greatest crowd in Crisler Arena
history," said Frieder. "It was the
largest crowd, and it was the first
time Michigan basketball played for
the Big Ten Title on the last game
of the season like we do in football,
it seems, every year with Ohio
State."
What can Frieder do for an
encore? He plans on retiring at age
55, which would mean 11 more
years of coaching. An NCAA Title
still looms in the back of his mind.
"We will get that (an NCAA
Title) done before it is all over,"
said Frieder. "I am not worried
about it."
With the departure of last
season's starting front line, Frieder
does not have to worry about
challenging for the NCAA crown
this season. This year's squad will
be talented, but young and
inexperienced also. This season
could resemble the 1981-82
campaign.
But Frieder is not ready to throw
in the familiar towel that adorns his
shoulder during games.
"We'll be back whatever happens
this-year," he said, confidently.
After experiencing the highest
highs and the lowest lows, Frieder
has no reason to doubt himself. i
