BY JILL MARCIIANO
Zeta Beta Tau squeaked by
Phi Kappa Psi, 13-12, in an
action-packed playoff game
Sunday. In the last inning, the
Phi Psi's loaded the bases with
two outs, but "just did not get the
hit we needed to pull ahead and
win the game," said Phi Psi
Brent Miller.
"It is just not our sport," said
fraternity brother John

Alpha -Epsilon the previous
week, the Chi Phis proved that
they are back in their game.
They are now 2-1 in the league
and have their next playoff
game Thursday. "The whole
team played well and
everybody got a hit," according
to Chi Phis' Mike Fisher. The
outstanding play of the game
came when Mitch Pattullo hit a
grand slam for the Chi Phis.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon was
still recovering from the Mud
Bowl when they played Kappa
Delta Rho in an IM softball
game Sunday. Losing 4-2,
Phil McCullough admitted that
"getting there late and terrible
hitting " caused their loss. The
SAEs beat the Chi Phis, 9-1,
Tuesday but "were playing
unusually bad" when they met
up with Kappa Delta Rho.

Dedication.
It is the only way to succeed.
All athletes know thisand yet it is
still not commonly practiced. It is
well-respected and praised by
fans, coaches, and fellow
teammates.
Michigan senior golfer Jan
Idomir is the epitome of what
dedication can do for an athlete.
IDOMIR, A computer engineer
major, has been on the golf team
her four years in Ann Arbor.
"She came in to play her
freshman year and she has been
improving since then," said
women's golf head coach Sue
LeClair. "There is no doubt she
has improved greatly in her four
years here."
The East Lansing native, who
started to play golf as a freshman
in high school because her father
did, was not challenged very
much at the high school level. But
that changed when she came to
Michigan.
LAST WEEK, for example, a

Getzinger. "I guess we should
stick to water polo."
Miller was more optimistic,
saying, "it was a good effort."
But with a one-game
elimination in the playoffs, the
Phi Psis will have to look
forward to the next season.

golfer for Indiana shot an
amazing three-under-par 68 at the
Lady Northern Invitational held
at Michigan State. One would
think that this would phase most
players, but it didn't bother Jan.
"I try not to think of how other
players are doing," Idomir said.
"I don't like to compare myself
with other players. I like to go out
on the course and relax."
While relaxing, though, Jan is
still working very hard on her
game. "I try to go out and hit every
day," she said. "My game still
needs work. Sometimes if my
long game is not going well, I
have to especially concentrate on
my short game. The only way to
become consistent is through
practice."
Practice has enabled Jan to
turn in-the best scores on the team
so far this year. Practice takes
time though, so how can Idomir
manage a 3.5 Grade Point
Average when classes are missed
every other week due to a golf trip?
"Jan is the type of person who is
very organized and very
dependable," said her coach. "Jan
is someone who always is in
control of what she is doing. She
is someone who can be depended
on in virtuallyany situation."
With the team travelling down
to play Kentucky next week and
with many major matches to
come, the season is still young. If
anyone wishes to se'e golf before
one of the scheduled matches, they
should go to the University Golf
Course and ask for Jan Idomir.
She is there every day.
