THE KARATE KID II Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita return as the kid and the mentor in this inspiring sequel to the inspiring original. At the Movies At Briarwood. LEGAL EAGLES Lawyer Robert Redford gets a little ' to close to client Daryl Hannah, and Debra Winger gets a little jealous. Romantic comedy, probably even better than the Rod Stewart video that it inspired. MANHUNTER A slow-paced but interesting proceedural thriller about a forensics expert who comes out of retirement to help bag a serial killer who gets his rocks off slaughtering entire families. This one's directed by Michael Mann, and has Miami Vice written all over it. At the State Theater. NIGHT OF THE CREEPS "The good news is, your dates are here. The bad newsis...they're dead." NOTHING IN COMMON Tom Hanks and Jackie Gleason star in this domestic comedy-drama about a young man's attempts to break through to his icy, alienated father. At the Movies At Briarwood. RUTHLESS PEOPLE Danny DeVito does what he does best--rants--in this screwball comedy about getting screwed and screwing others. With Bette Midler. At the Movies At Briarwood SHANGHAI SURPRISE The long-awaited on-screen pairing, of Boy Toy Madonna and Parapazzi Jawbreaker Sean Penn is an exotic romantic adventure that's been causing critics nationwide to gag and retch.
