Dorsett, Cowboys humble Lions, 31-7

PONTIAC (AP)- Tony Dorsett
ran for 118 yards and a touchdown,
while Danny White passed for one
touchdown and ran for another as.
the Dallas Cowboys completelty
dominated the Detroit Lions in a
31-7 victory yesterday.
The Cowboys took advantage of
two Detroit mistakes for 17 points in

the second quarter as they
improved to 2-0. The Lions slipped
to'l-'.
DORSETT, who was listed as a
questionable starter because of a
sprained left ankle, carried the
ball 23 times. He swept around
right end for a five-yard touchdown
one minute into the second quarter
after the Cowboys had recovered a

James Jones fumble.
Dallas made it 14-0 with 1:01
remaining in the second quarter
when White, who completed 20 of 31
for 184 yards, hooked up with
Timmy Newsome on a 15-yard TD
pass play.
Moments later, Detroit punter
Mike Black fiumbled at the Lions' 9
and Rafael Septien kicked a 27-

yard field goal with one second
remaining in the half.
Dorsett appeared to have scored
on a 34-yard run with 12:41
remaining in the game, but
officials ruled he was stopped
inside the one after checking a
television replay. White dived in
for the score on the next play.
