MILLER Bowling Green will be out to bowl over the Michigan hockey team and to ,continue its eight-game Central Collegiate Hockey Association win- ing streak in this weekend's home and away series. Tonight's contest will be at Bowling Green Ice Arena, and tomorrow's game will be at Yost Arena. Both games start at 7:30. .THE FALCONS are much improved ffm the team that split with the Wolverines earlier in the season. Bowling Green's 19-5 record (17-3 in the CCHA) puts the team in first place n the CCHA and in the nation. ichigan coach Red Berenson has nothing but respect for the Falcons' poll position. "I know what type of competition Bowling Green faces each week," commented the Wolverines' mentor. "There are no soft touches in this league .even though Miami of Ohio's record is not strong." Despite his team's impressive record, Falcon coach Jerry York is not taking the Wolverines lightly. "On paper Michigan has beaten Michigan State and ourselves. That in itself ry to ground high flying Falcons Berenson. "But I don't think his ab- sence is an excuse (for a poor perfor- mance) because one player should not have to carry the team, not a sophomore. We have some strong players on this team that are going to have to pick up the slack." Junior Brad Jones will have to shoulder the scoring burden. The cen- ter leads the Wolverines in scoring with 47 points (18-29-47). Jones is one point away from equalling his 1984-85 total of 48 points (21-27-48), which he collected in 34 games. This season he has played in 22 games. THE PRESENCE of Bowling Green goalie Gary Kruzich should make Jones' task more difficult. Kruzich was named CCHA Player- of-the-Week for his 62-save perfor- mance last weekend in Bowling Green's sweep of Lake Superior. His 3.22 goals against average is second in the CCHA and he has yielded only 18 goals in his last nine games. "Kruzich is one of the best goalies in the country. He is a game breaker," said York. "When you talk about our team you have to start with the goalie." As expected of a first place team the Falcons have more than just great play in the net. Surprisingly, the Falcons skate only one senior. "We have a heck of a senior in Jamie Wan- sbrough," said York. The center leads the CCHA in scoring with 43 points (17-26-42).
