CATCH OF THE DAY
The couple sips a Pabst during a romantic dinner by streetlight outside Stop
'N' Go (all of the seats inside the 24-hour hotspot were taken). First course
was Kraft Handi-snak Cheese 'A' Crackers. Later, Carrico had a Beefie Bean
Green Chili Burrito while Karen munched on a Double Charbroil 'n' Cheese.
The couple knew they were meant for one another when they discovered that
their individually selected entrees both required microwave setting "D."

T IM CARRICO is a busy man. He is part-time manager of the rotary
hot dog cooker at a local 'val-u-mart'. Despite an immense workload,
Carrico was willing to take time out from stocking the beef frank
rotisserie to read the many letters sent to him by bachelorettes who were
contestants in the "Win a Dream Date with Tim Carrico (January's
Bachelor of the Month) Contest."
In each of the letters, female Michigan undergrads explained why Time
was the perfect man for them, and provided Tim with some information
about themselves.
It was not easy for Carrico to choose his date. Said Carrico, "There
were lots of letters from the babes and I don't read so fast."
Carrico, after much deliberation, chose freshman Karen Butkiewicz, a
resident of Stockwell, as his dream date partner. Said Carrico, "In her
letter she said that her personal goals are to go to the Ripley's Believe It
or Not Museum, and to make love during the Jerry Lewis Telethon. I
could tell she wanted to impress me."
Other reasons Carrico might have picked Butkiewicz are that she, like
Carrico, owns a video called Anson Williams: The Man-The Actor-the
Mystery." She's also fond of one of Carrico's favorite dishes, waxed bean
casserole.
Butkiewicz went to the trouble of writing Carrico a second letter, which
began with these endearing words: "Dearest Tim, I just wanted to let you
know what I was thinking about you during National Meat Week ... "
After Tim made his decision, I called Butkiewicz to tell her that she was
the special someone who would accompany Tim on the dream date.
"What should I wear?" she asked. "Tim' seems to like dacron," I an-
swered.
Butkiewicz was nervous, and for good reason. In but 24 hours, fantasy
would mesh with reality. She would spend an entire evening with the
Daily's Bachelor of the Month. She had won. She had really won. That
would take some time to sink in.
But what of the losers? For those women, this photo story is but a pain-
ful reminder that they weren't good enough for Tim Carrico. Their
Valentine's Day will be spent in quiet desperation.
Carrico had a few words of consolation for the contest losers : "Hey, if I
were a babe and I couldn't go out with me, I'd cry too." Thanks for the
healing words Tim bo.

After playing a sex trivia video game, the happy couple walked to Tim's spacious penthouse to watch reruns of 'The
Peoples' Court' starring one of Carrico's heroes, Rusty the Bailiff. Said Carrico, "She was all over me. Babes just
can't help it. It's like I have some magnetic force."

dollar because, in Carrico's words: "He gave us extra napkins and it was the you're talking to? It's me, Tim."
