Best Bar Atmosphere
Rick's
In what could be viewed as the battle
of the Greek system versus reality,
Rick's beat Charlie's by a narrow
margin to become this year's bar with
the best atmosphere. Sure it's always
packed and it's hard to find a table; sure
it requires incredible endurance to
work your way to the bar on a weekend
night; sure there's only a tiny dance
floor that's barely adequate when
there's a great band; but, folks, that's
the atmosphere. It's unique and wild
and the live bands create excitement
like Prince records never will.
Best Dance Bar
The Nectarine Ballroom
The renovated Chance went through
some troubled times during its first
year, but it's managed to spark interest
by appealing to a broad range of clien-
tele. As the best dance bar, the Nec-
tarine serves its followers well. The
large dance floor is designed for dan-
cers, rather than as an afterthought to
liven up a bar, and the music and
lighting combine to create an electric
mood.

Rick's
In a town where just about everyone
goes to Happy Hour at least once a
month, there has to be one standout
establishment where the crowds ab-
solutely flock to get in. Anyone who has
ever stood in the line to get into Rick's
after his Friday 3:00 knows that
Rick's is the best Happy Hour. It's
probably the atmosphere!!

Charlie' s
The traditional Ann Arbor bar night
has sparked another
tradition-Charlie's on Thursday's. The
crowds, a great deal Greek, are in-
credible, especially when you consider
the lack of a dance floor. Charlie's is
simply a Good Time.
