plastic zoo animals. Its appeal is vast,
as is the assortment of postcards,
earrings and T-shirts found in the many
sections of the store. Most of all, Mid-
dle Earth is fun, infinitely browse-able
and delightful to scores of Ann 'Arbor
shoppers.
Best Copying
A lbert's
Although copying sounds simple
enough, anyone who had bought a cour-
sepack has a clue as to how easy it is for
a copying firm to screw up. This year
Alberts, located on E. Liberty, has the
distinction of being our readers'
favorite copier; the least favorite
copier sits behind one of our voters
in his Economics class.
Best Liquor Store
Village Corner
It's not just the booze, it's the am-
biance that makes V.C. the best liquor
store. Only at Village Corner can you
hear the case for revolutionary politics
while you buy a case of beer.
Everyone's favorite general store
stocks the finest wines, the classiest
cigars, and tastiest generic sugar-
frosted flakes. Diversity and ideosyn-
crasy are, in fact, the keys to V.C.'s
success.

Best Revival
On Campus
The Michigan Theater's grand
presentation of the Douglas Fairbands,
Sr. version of Robin Hood, complete
with live organ and orchestra accom-
paniment.
Best New Cult Film
The Gods Must Be Crazy. Crude, but
endlessly charming, far more a worth
venture than Rocky Horror or The
Wall.
Cult Film Whose Demise
Was Long Overdue
Harold and Maude, which the State
Theater thankfully just booted.
Best First-Run Theater
By far the Ann Arbor Theater, which
seems to be dedicated to bringing us
only the cream. Stop Making Sense,
Comfort and Joy, The Brother From
Another Planet, A Sunday in the Coun-
try, Stranger Than Paradise,... I could
go on.
Biggest Disappointment
Dune. If you had the misfortune of
seeing it I won't rekindle the bad
memories.
Best Viewing
The Campus Theater, with the only
thing that could legitimately be called a
wide screen in town.
Worst Viewing
The State Theater. On which planet to
they watch films through the side of
their heads?
Worst Place To See
A Film On Campus
Toss up between Nat. Sci. and Lorch
Hall.

Best Film Premiered
On Campus
The AAFC-Cinema Guild-Cinema II
showing of Fassbinder's 15-hour epic
Berlin Alexanderplatz. An often un-
comfortable but in the end deeply
rewarding experience.
Most Encouraging
New Trend
After the success of Bevery Hills Cop,
the wretched Purple Rain, and A
Soldier's Story, Hollywood seems to
show signs of realizing its time to open
up and let black actors on the screen in
roles beyond traditionally token sup-
porting roles. Welcome to the nineteen
eighties.
Most Discouraging
New Trend
After rampant, crass commer-
cialization of films like E.T., Gremlins,
and the Star Wars films, there have
been films coming out based on existing
merchandise, He-Man figures and and
Care Bear Dolls. Where will it stop...
Worst Waiting In Line
Experience
Standing in line at The Movies At
Briarwood. I didn't know there were this
many people in the Western
hemisphere, and why do they always
want to see the same movies I do?
Films I Keep Reading
About And Waiting For
That I'm Beginning To
Think I'll Never See
Birdy, Brazil, Cal, Lost in America,
Paris, Texas.
