But I doubt it could have framed them.
Nights are amazing.
There are more stars in that sky
Than in the entire National Geographic
Survey of the Heavens.
There are no big city lights,
Bright city street lights here; no big cities
In South Dakota (not hardly any).
Just blackness, pure blackness,
Virgin dark unviolated by industry.
And five times five times an infinite number
Of bright sparklers,
Faint twinklers, and distant fuzzies.
You can see the rest of our galaxy from here,
The Milky Way,
In all of its 100,000 light year glory.
It's a very safe feeling,
A grounded feeling,
A feeling of being part of a whole,
Part of a race that has always looked up
At skies like this
And felt this way,
Since the time that the entire
Earth lived under sky
