One answer that came up a couple of times was "the person who, sits behind me," but Albert's can do an even better job than that. . Whether you're talking classical, folk, jazz or rock they're sure I to have something to interest you. Best Women's Clothing Store Bivouac Fashion with flair. Best Chinese Restaurant Sze Chuan West A lot of people think there are no good Chinese restaurants in Ann Arbor. Well, they're wrong. Sze Chuan West doesn't serve "American Chinese food;" in fact it's as good as some Big City China Town restaurants. Try some of the hot and spicy dishes but keep your water within reach. Best Jewelry Earport If you fancy yourself (or somebody close to you) a Lucy in the Sky with diamonds-type, come in for a landing at the Earport, it's a gem of a place. f -1 ANN ARBOR THEATER 210 S. 5th; 761-9700 EL NORTE Having had its Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Film pulled when the academy found out it wasn't a foreign film, El Norte is looking for some public sup- port. The story deals with the U.S. border and Mexicans, and over 79% of the dialogue is in Spanish. SWINGSHIFT Goldie Hawn is joined by Kurt Russel in this flick , set in the '40s. The men go off to war, the women go off to the factories, and I guess the kids get left cooking dinner. MOVIES AT BRIARWOOD Briarwood Mall; 769-8780 AGAINST ALL ODDS Not nearly so existential as some have said, but quite intriguing, especially to those with a strong in- terest. FOOTLOOSE A modern cultural thing viviantly expressing American youth's predilection for freedom. A possible successor to Flashdance. MIKE'S MURDER Is it a comedy, or is it a thriller? Exit polls reveal that 42% of male viewers don't care, but really go to see Debra Winger (of An Officer of Endearment fame). MOSCOW ON TIIE HUDSON Poetically mad as always Robin Williams is now a Russian saxaphonist defecting in New York. The weak point is that he tries to defect in the cosmetics department of Macy's while there is a sale on spor- tingware at Hudson's. ROMANCING THE STONE Kathleen Turner (Body Heat . . .) and Michael Douglas star in "this action-packed" adventure film trailing through underdeveloped territory. Some people have .not compared it to Raiders of the Lost Ark.. WHERE THE BOYS ARE Deja vu, maybe (mais oui). Yes, this is a remake of that 1960 tribute Lauderdale. Gee, this doesn't say too much of our present return to '50s "muscle- beach" ideology, does it? CAMPUS THEATER 1214 S. University; 668-6416 GREYSTOKE Inspired probably not by a lack of previous inter- pretations, this movie again recreates the Tarzar myth of Edgar Rice Burroughs. FOX-VILLAGE THEATER Maple village; 769-1300 TERMS OF ENDEARMENT A widow (Shirley MacLaine), tries to settle some of the confusing points of a mother/daughter relationship with her daughter (Debra Winger). FRIDAY THE 13th: THE FINAL SEQUENCE Let's hope so. There's only so much material to be composed for a psychopathetic adolescent slaughtering machine, and after this flick, my guess is that the quality will go down hill, Plot summary: Blood and T & A and gore and screams and pseudo- sex and death. HARD TO HOLD The story of a big rock star who is on the way down and who falls in love with a woman who never thought he was a big rock star. Starring rock star Rick Springfield who has appeared in soaps and seen a video star. Springfield: "...I can put a part of me into this story." THE DRESSER Not furniture, but rather Tom Courtenay, who- plays Skakespearian actor's Albert Finney's "dresser." One of this year's more artistic efforts. STATE THEATER 231 S.
