Some time ago concerned citizens of our fair city approached us at the Daily to find out. We set out to investigate the matter by asking various members of our staff, but they all seemed to vote for them- selves, so we were at a loss. It then oc- cured to us that the only equitable way of determining what was really the "Best of Ann Arbor" was to ask a lot of people. And so, The First Annual Best of Ann HA b N CARE FOR M & tER HOURS Monday-Friday 9-7. Saturday 9-5 333 S. Fourth Ave. 995-0804 5 Nickels Arcade 662-3220 Arbor Issue was born. Ballots were distributed to the public, and when counted they gave us an "unbiased" answer. But nearly a full year has passed sin- ce that first issue was written. In that year new businesses have opened, old businesses have closed, and in-between businesses have gotten both better and worse. So we at the Daily have decided to ask once again, "What is the Best of Ann Arbor?" Therefore we present the Second An- nual Best of Ann Arbor issue, (conver- sely known as son of Best of Ann Ar- bor). Once again} we are asking the public to tell us what is good, great, bad or funny about this city. Ballots can be picked up and filled out at various hours in the fishbowl, and at anytime in the Daily Arts office, or the ballot on this page can be filled out and dropped off at the Daily arts office. Now the questions on this year's ballot are more than simple mass market-type questions. In addition to such questions as "Best pizza" and "Best Men's Clothing Store," we want to find out some things like "Best Place for a Philosophical Discussion" and "Best Excuse for Handing a Paper in Late. "Questions such as these are of vital importance. Don't laugh! If you were Socrates coming to Ann Arbor to challenge Stony Burke to a debate, where would you go. The Diag? The foot of Burton Tower? Michigan Football Stadium? Or imagine yourself in the shoes of those poor souls who are going to begin their collegiate careers this fall. This isn't high school anymore. "The Dog Ate It" just doesn't cut the mustard at the big University. It is these people that we are trying to help. We are not as some malicious folks have implied, gathering infor- mation for a KGB takeover or com- munist insurrection. So what it all boils down to for you, the reader, is to vote. In order to vote for the president you have to know something about the candidates who are running. In order to vote for Best of Ann Arbor, all you have to know is what you learn just by being a part of this city. There's no such thing as an unin- formed voter when it comes to The Best of Ann Arbor because even people who've been here only a few months can tell us all some of the secrets they've dredged up. So one last time - vote! it only takes a few minutes. And remember the more you vote, friendly editors. vote).
